If you haven’t taken the time to listen to Solange’s newest album A Seat At The Table, do so.
The album is inspiring to black people, especially women, everywhere. My favorite track F.U.B.U. features Chicago native BJ the Chicago Kid and musical genius The Dream. The premise of the song: “this shit is for us.”
Yesterday, Solange shared moments from her songwriting process and jam sessions that shaped the project. We see behind-the-scenes moments with Solange’s team first jamming out in tapestry-deocorated sun rooms with a single microphone, eventually leading to lyric editing and studio sessions.
If anything, this video takes the glamour out of songwriting. For me though, it shares a short glimpse of the creative genius that is Solange Knowles – if you weren’t already keen. I absolutely love Solange’s spirit and it is so obvious that each and every word drifting from her mouth is straight from her heart strings, purposely meant to exist exactly where they are.
It’s also important to note the sweet moments with Solange and her son Julez.
The Knowles have done it again.
